Self Promotion and the WPPA Final Event.

Ben AffleckToday's post is a collection of self promotion segments and an update of WPPA tournament news. I will start with the article written by the Poker Prof that appears in the latest issue of "All In Magazine" . We were proud to offer our services and expertise to assist with a charity poker tournament for four-year-old Alec Drerup of Amarillo, Texas. The charity tournament, held to collect money for an operation for the young man, almost didn't happen after local law enforcement authorities decided it would violate Texas law. Some creative fast footwork by the organizers allowed the event to become a reality without fear of arrest for the participants. The title of the Prof's article on page 16 of the Aug/Sept 2004 issue is "Medicinal Poker." The by-line lists the author as Joseph Smith, aka the Poker Prof. If you get an opportunity please read the article even thgough you may have to subscribe to the magazine to do so. You will also want to read articles by fellow bloggers including the Ben Affleck cover story written by blogger, Brad "Otis" Willis, of PokerPages.com. The "Vegas Baby" article covering the best poker rooms in Vegas was written by blogger, Hoyt "CJ" Luckman, of upforanything.net/poker. We have been unable to locate the magazine at any of the local newsstands here in Las Vegas but maybe you will have better luck finding a copy in your community.

The second installment in our "dedicated to us self-promotion post" is an article I wrote and illustrated with original photos titled, "Final Table Challenge Held," that appeared on page 5 of the October 4, 2004 (volume 8 issue 7 page 5) issue of " Poker Player ," the poker newspaper available in most poker rooms. "Poker Player" left out our by-line for the article. "Poker Player'" published a correction on page 33 of the October 18, 2004 (Volume 8 issue 8 page 33) issue giving us, LasVegasVegas.com, the proper credit. Thanks Stanley!

Kathy Liebert playing in the WPPA super satellite. The WPPA tournament at the Orleans Hotel & Casino is winding down to the final event which starts tomorrow, 10/08/2004, at noon. The main event will be a $5000 + $100 No-limit Hold'em tournament scheduled to finish on the 12th. Today's events are $500 super satellites with entrants playing for seats in tomorrow's main event. The WPPA completed a TV contract with the Game Show Network and the GSN TV people decided, as an added bonus, to pay for an three additional seats to be awarded to players in the noon satellite today and they are adding six additional seats for the 7:00 pm satellite. The noon satellite had a good turnout with more than fifty paid entrants. I will provide coverage and photos of the final event.
